Ray wrote copiously for children. He created characters for children that will remain etched in the memories of those who enjoyed them in their childhood. Although his target audience was children most of the books Ray wrote for children were also enjoyed by adults. Even after his death, a lot of work; both non-fiction and fiction was published in the western countries. Many of his Bengali short stories were translated into English and published in the west.
